Good News, Bad News

Well, as you can see, the good news is I managed to find a 3-column blog template to use. Yay, go me (honestly, all it involved was a few simple steps).

That's it for the good news.

The bad news is...Disqus is broken. Their "template patcher" doesn't work with "custom templates", and for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how to make it work with the custom template, even following the instructions from this page (which the Disqus support page sends you to when the "patcher" figures out it can't auto-patch your template for you).

So...I'm asking for help. I know some of you out there have 3 column blogs and are using Disqus. Can ya help a brother out and let me know how you did it? Or edit my template? Or...something? Please? :)

In the meantime, I've turned the "normal" comments back on. Whee.

  1. Please if you find the solution to this problem, be sure to let me know! I have the EXACT same problem. =/
I'll return the favor if I happen to be the first to stumble upon how to do it.

  2. I don't know why our Disqus works in a three blog template... sheer luck probably. I'd ask Dev, but I don't think he'll know the fix...

  3. @suneokun: Unless that 3-column template you're using is a "standard" one (straight from blogger) then someone had to add Disqus manually to the template to make it work. Go ahead and ask Dev, or anyone else you can think of! The answer needs to be found! :)

  5. I had to do something to following affect.

There is an option to automatically have disqus install on your page, that is standard procedure. This didn't work on my customized template. There was another option involving downloading their modified to include disqus template. I then restored that template to my page. I'm sorry I know that is a little vague, but it's a while.

I think Ron over at From the Warp had the same problem, maybe he can weigh in?

Here is what I wrote at the time...

  8. I wonder if order has anything to do with it. If you install Disqus and then change to a three column layout. Is that what you did? Incidentally, I had the same problem with intensedebate as well..
